Dr. Stella Bolanle Apata is a Lecturer, Researcher, and Language Education specialist with extensive experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. She currently serves as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of South Africa (UNISA), Pretoria, within the School of Educational Studies, and as a Lecturer in the Department of Arts Education at Adekunle Ajasin University, Nigeria.
She holds a Ph.D. in Language Education (2023) from Adekunle Ajasin University, where her doctoral research examined the interplay between information literacy skills, ICT, and research productivity among academics. She also earned an M.Ed. in Language Education from the University of Ibadan and a B.A. (Ed.) in English Education from Adekunle Ajasin University.
Dr. Apata’s academic career spans over a decade, including roles in higher education teaching, postgraduate supervision, and programme coordination. Prior to her university appointment, she served as Programme Coordinator at Sunshine Scholars’ Nursery/Primary School, where she led curriculum development and teacher training initiatives. She has also contributed to community development through educational outreach, including establishing a school library and supporting access to basic education.
She is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), the Reading Association of Nigeria, and the International Association of Language Educators. Her scholarly engagement extends to conference participation, panel facilitation, and interdisciplinary collaborations. She was recognized for excellence as a panel facilitator at the Higher Education Quality Assurance Forum (HEQAF 2025).

Dr. Apata’s research is situated within the broad domain of Language Education, with a strong interdisciplinary orientation that integrates technology, pedagogy, and sustainable development. - Digital Literacy and E-learning: Investigating how digital competencies shape teaching, learning, and research productivity in the 21st century.
- Artificial Intelligence in Education: Exploring the integration of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) in language teaching, teacher preparedness, and ethical considerations in higher education.
- Applied Linguistics and Language Pedagogy: Examining innovative instructional strategies such as metacognitive scaffolding, reciprocal teaching, and cooperative learning.
- Teacher Education and Professional Development: Assessing readiness for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and the adoption of technology-enhanced pedagogies.
- Multimodal and Digital Communication: Analyzing emerging forms of communication such as emojis, hashtags, and digital discourse in language development.
