Dr. Nura Ibrahim Mukhtar is a Lecturer and Researcher of Adult Education and Community Development in the Department of Adult Education and Extension Services, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria. He holds a Ph.D. in Adult Education (Community Development) from Bayero University, Kano, Master’s degree in Community Development and a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies Education.
Dr. Mukhtar’s academic and professional trajectory reflects over two decades of progressive engagement in teaching, research, and community engagement, spanning secondary education, higher education, and teacher education. His interdisciplinary grounding integrates adult learning theory, community mobilisation, Islamic perspectives on development (Maqasid al-Sharia), and socio-economic empowerment strategies.
Research Focus
Dr. Mukhtar’s research agenda is situated at the intersection of adult education, community participation, and sustainable development, with a strong emphasis on the Global South, particularly Nigeria. His work is characterized by both conceptual and applied scholarship, addressing pressing socio-economic and educational challenges.
Dr. Mukhtar can be characterized as a community-engaged scholar-practitioner, whose work bridges theory, policy, and practice. His research contributes to advancing context-sensitive, participatory, and ethically grounded development paradigms in Africa. He has supervised numerous undergraduate research projects and postgraduate theses, particularly in areas related to education, community engagement, and social development, demonstrating strong mentorship in empirical research design and field-based inquiry.
